Happy New Year!!!!

Gotta love fresh starts. Opportunities to reflect back, think of all the memories created in the past year. Some good, some bad. The good ones we store away in our hearts and latch on to them in dark times. The bad ones, we tuck away, as well - but not before we learn from them. There is always something to learn, something to cherish - everyday of our lives. This photography challenge is affording me the chance to document all of those things. And sharpening my photojournalistic skills is a bonus I get along the journey.

Thanks to all who visit. HHCC & Comments are always welcomed.

So, without further delay - POTD #1
ISO - 800
Lens - 18-55 kit
Flash - 430 EX
fired & bounced off ceiling behind me
Focal Length - 39 mm
TV 1/125
AV 5.0
Adjustments made in RAW -
fixed exposure by 2 stops
(afterwards, I discovered I had it set
to -2 in exposure compensation)
no wonder they were all dark -
lesson learned.
Also did a defog in PSCS.
SECURITY 1.01.07
Picture of my youngest son, Ross, and his blanket - otherwise referred to as "giki". This thing is so beat up. We had to cut it in two and create 2 seperate blankets. This way we could atleast sneak one away from him while he is sleeping and wash it. Oh the measures we parents go through to provide our children with security. It's one of the most important jobs I will ever have, so I will go to great lengths.
Not only is this blanket security to my son - as he runs the fringe through his fingers - the picture itself is security for me. I am relieved to see the pink in his cheeks, and in his fingers. And the dirty fingernails - well, that just means he was out and about being a typical 2 year old. I love it. I love him. I love the "giki". It has gotten us through some pretty tough times. It is his favorite companion.

Great use of depth of field here. Love it. I'm just learning my flash too so it's good to see what can be done with it. Thanks for sharing...

What an outstanding photograph! Portrays the epitome of security (for a 2 yo anyway!).

I LOVE this shot. The story behind it makes it so much more sweet. Pink cheeks and dirty fingernails are what we all want as parents. I thank God every day for my healthy children.

I can't wait to see more of what you do!
